Before I tell you about some of the people that we're working with, I have a little side note. :) On Wednesday we drove up to Garden Valley. As we were driving on the highway, we saw a pull off on the side of the road and a little trail that led to a distant waterfall. We thought, "Wow! How fun! Let's take a little hike!" Well... first of all, the hike proved to be more difficult that we first thought because #1. we had only our skirts and flats and #2. it was SUPER steep. But we continued nonetheless. As we were hiking, I didn't want to go any further but my companion urged me to keep going- so I did. And then..... we passed some underwear on the side of the trail...... GROSS. I told her again that I wanted to turn around, but we kept going a little further until the trail turned more difficult. So we went back. On the way back, we talked to this guy that was walking up the trail. He asked us if we went up to the springs and we said no... and there was more awkward conversation after that point. haha! But when we got back to our car we saw the sign for the trail said, "SKINNY DIPPING HOT SPRINGS". O.O Oh gosh.... Good thing we didn't go all the way! Probably why I felt we should turn around... hahahahahaa ANYWAYS. That was the awkward moment of the week. :P
April and Tom: Amazing couple! They just got married in order to be baptized! We just set a new baptismal date with them for June 6th and we plan on meeting with them weekly for lessons. They're totally just unbaptized Mormons. :)
Shawn and Casey: They were some former investigators. But the missionaries had given up on them because... honestly, I don't know. We taught them the restoration and they committed to being baptized! The next 3 lessons we had with them were centered on "what do I have to do to be baptized?". It was great. We talked about the word of wisdom and the law of chastity- they committed to get married. Yeah! Super exciting! And THEN, to my companions complete disbelief, they came to church on Sunday!! Yes!
Nelda: A less active woman. We normally visit her every Monday night for a Family Home Evening but, oh bless her heart, she falls asleep EVERY TIME WE GO OVER! hahahaha. But she called us up crying this week and asked us if we could come over. She told us that she feels like she's losing her testimony. She has so many questions and not a lot of answers and her gospel knowledge is limited. She asked us if we could teach her the lessons. So we'll be going over there to do that with her.
Tim: He, like a lot of other investigators, has had all of the lessons. We have a lesson with him this week and we hope to help him to remember the testimony that he has.
Steve: A super old man... He's had the lessons a million times, but I don't think that he was ever committed to be baptized! What's with that?! We set up weekly lessons with him so that we can teach him. We're going to commit him to a baptismal date this week. It's totally happening.
I'm LOVING my mission. It's a blast so far! I can't believe I only have.... I'm not even going to say it!
