Tiffany- we taught her the plan of salvation with a member of the ward. Tiffany has a Baptist background and she told us that she's really just taking the lessons for informational purposes. She has a hard time accepting anything that she didn't grow up learning (pre-mortal life, post-mortal life), even though she does agree that it makes sense to her. Her only comment is always: "It's not familiar to me- It's not what I learned growing up. I'll have to pray about it." So, hopefully she does.
Seanna- A less active. I may have talked about her before. But we've started teaching her the lessons. We taught her about the plan of salvation and really focused on the Atonement. She has a lot of baggage in her life that she's trying to get rid of. We talked about forgiveness (of ourselves and others). She's really making a move to come back to church.
Ashley- If you remember, she's the one that is less active, husband isn't a member, and her younger brother is serving a mission. We've had some amazing lessons with her so far! We've taught her the restoration, and just this week we taught her the plan of salvation as well. Our conversation ranged from reading Alma 32, talking about faith and prayer, all the way to helping her see why she would want to live in the Celestial kingdom. She is doing awesome with the gospel. :) We're hoping to be able to get her to church!
Katie- Katie is related to some members of the Elgin Ward, but she lives in La Grande. We helped her move apartments the other day and got talking to her about the church. We learned that she's a less active member and that she had no intention of coming back to church.... Well, by the time we left, she agreed to have us come over and visit her! After our first visit, we just helped her to unpack her things and set another appointment. But the next time we came over we had a lesson with Stephanie (her sister) and Derek... and at the end of that lesson she asked us to come over and have a "review lesson" with her! :) She wants God in her life again. :)
Kendra- She's one of those eternal investigators, as of right now. She feels like she has to know everything before she gets baptized. Right now she's dealing with a husband who is dealing with an addiction and is completely unrepentant... So they've just gotten a divorce. She came to us this week looking for guidance. So often in the church they talk about the family, and she feels like she doesn't "fit the mold" and is having a hard time finding peace. We directed her to watch the General Women's Meeting from conference. Hopefully that will help her.
Stephanie and Derek- They are absolutely golden. They want to be baptized, but didn't understand why they had to be married. So we taught them about the law of chastity- which the readily accepted. And since then we've taught them the restoration and the plan of salvation. They are wonderful people! They told us yesterday that they're now engaged to be married and hope to do it as soon as possible! AND they want us to be the witnesses. I feel honored. Haha!
Jody and Damon- The two teenage boys that are taking the lessons. They both have learning disabilities, so teaching them has been difficult. Jody committed to living the word of wisdom! Damon just rolled his eyes and said that he liked his tea too much. Hahaha. Ohhh, teenage boys.
Bush- We taught him about the priesthood this week. It was great because we brought his young men's leader and a couple of other boys his age as well. They were able to bear testimony and share experiences that we, as Sisters, couldn't! It was awesome. They really got him excited about the priesthood and he committed to talking with the Bishop about receiving it.
"One More House"- I always find that if I keep this in mind when I'm tired that the Lord blesses us. I'm always feeling like I'm at the end of my rope and that I want to give up. But as I keep saying, "one more house" I find that that "last" house is someone who is prepared for the gospel! :) Heavenly Father knows His children.
A cool pen from a sister in the ward!
